Year 11 Update and Exam Timetable

Dear Year 11 Students and Families,

It is really pleasing to see how well our students have adapted to the online learning space and the extremely high levels of engagement in their lessons. Year 11 are to be congratulated on their smooth transition to online learning and their positivity in meeting the challenges.

I would also like to acknowledge the amazing work of our Student Leaders in providing opportunities and activities for all our students to engage in. Our school community are really appreciating the activities, challenges and videos of encouragement. These have certainly contributed greatly to keeping students connected with their whole school community and a huge thank you to them for this.

On Friday we met with our Year 11 students and discussed their current online learning and updated them on the plans for the following weeks, including moving their final exams to Weeks 9 and 10 of this term.

Week 9 & 10 Year 11 Exam/Assessment tasks have been modified to cater to the online learning platforms and also to provide students with adequate screen rest time in between exams. Not all subjects have decided to run a final online exam with some deciding on an alternate assessment task instead. Students will have prior notification of what each of their exams or alternate assessment tasks will consist of. Please be assured all of these decisions have been informed through broad consultation and with the absolute best interests of our Year 11 students always at the fore-front. These changes are in-line with the most recent information released from the Department of Education.

Year 11 students will continue with their timetabled online learning from Week 6 through to the end of Week 8, where they will also be provided with opportunities to prepare for their upcoming exams. Weeks 9 and 10
will be their final Exam/Assessment period for their Preliminary Studies, with tasks being completed online. During Weeks 9 and 10 students will not be required to follow their regular timetable but will follow the Year
11 Examinations Timetable (Please find attached). The first Monday of this timetable, 6 September, has no exams scheduled and is a study day for Year 11 students. Tuesday 7 September is the first exam day and students are to ensure, for each of their exams, they are logged into their Google Classroom 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the exam in case there are any technology issues that need to be resolved prior to the start of the exam.

Year 11 Life Ready Camp unfortunately is unable to run this year due to the current COVID-19 situation and NSW Health orders. In regards to the processing of refunds for the Year 11 Life Ready Camp 2021 there are three options listed below:

Option 1: The money paid will be transferred to Fees In advance to be used towards current school fees, or to be used for any future fees/school excursions for students in the family.
Option 2: If payment was made at school via EFTPOS or cash an EFT bank transfer to a nominated bank account can be processed.
Option 3: If payment was made through the Parent Online Payment System the payment can be reversed and money will be returned to the account card initially used for payment.

A Refund Advice/Application form will be forwarded on request by email. Please contact  the school email at glenmorepk-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au

As Life Ready is a compulsory program and a component for successful completion of the Year 11 Preliminary Course we will be running alternate activities in Term 4, Week 1 for students to undertake and complete these requirements.

If students or families have questions regarding any of these changes, we ask that students post questions or concerns on the Year 11 Google Classroom or for families to email the school placing Attention: Principal in the subject line. We will prepare responses to these questions and provide these in a timely manner.

The Wellbeing of our community is extremely important to us and we ask if you believe further support is required for your child or your family that you let us know so we can assist in linking to the appropriate people/services.

Please take care and stay safe.

Yours Sincerely
Ms Lisette Gorick
Principal
