SCHOOL UNIFORMS
The Department of Education & Training supports the wearing of school uniform by students and the upholding of high standards of dress. When a school community agrees on a school uniform, the principal oversights the shared responsibility of ensuring the students are encouraged to wear school uniforms that meet agreed community standards and adhere to legislative requirements. A school with a uniform, traditional values, high expectations in learning and strong discipline promotes a positive view of the school community. The wearing of the school uniform by students shows a regard for themselves and respect for the school. This builds confidence, self esteem and future success.
Student Uniform
Glenmore Park High School is a uniform school, and all students are required to wear their uniform with pride each day.
Reasons for this are so we are all equal, there is no competition, it identifies us as a member of the school community, it provides safety as we are easily identified, and it sets a positive tone for learning.
Please note:
-the current uniform was designed in consultation with students and the school community
-there are no variations to this uniform
-extremes of hair cuts/colours are not appropriate, and excessive jewellery/body piercings and make-up should not be worn while students are at school. Patterned jackets, coloured sloppy joes, hoodies of any colour, joggers, jackets, denim jeans, track pants or any items with visible brand names or offensive text or graphics are not permitted.
Out of uniform policy
If a child is unable to wear (or bring) their uniform on a particular day, they are asked to bring a note from parent/guardian with an explanation, and carry this with them at all times during the day. Anything requiring a student to be out of uniform for longer than one day will require permission from the Deputy Principal.

As a health and hygiene measure students must change for Sport and PE at the start of the lesson, and will not be permitted to actively participate wearing their regular school uniform.
Sport uniform, track pants and dance costumes, including sport shoes are only to be worn during the appropriate lessons, after which students change back into full school uniform.
In accordance with the uniform policy of Glenmore Park High School students are required to change into the School Sports uniform, (shirt and shorts or tracksuit pants & runners) before practical participation in PE and Sport lessons. At the end of the lesson students are required to change back into normal School uniform. The Sports uniform is not to be worn to school. In accordance with this policy teachers will consistently impose the following rules;
1. If the student has not changed at all and has no note = theory worksheet on the sport or activity for the entire lesson. Must attend nonsport if operating.
2. Half changed and a note = theory for half of the lesson, no note theory for the entire lesson. Must attend nonsport if operating.
3. Note to do sport but the student has no change (eg emergency like clothes are still wet) can do PE, but not accepted continually.
4. If the student wears their PE uniform to school and does not have a change = theory for the entire lesson.
5. Three non-changes = letter home and an afternoon detention.
School is a learning and working environment and further accessories need to be left for after school and weekends.
Unacceptable wear includes:
· Black trousers and black knee length tights under skirts
· Tops with logos on them
- Hoodies of any colour or description
· Coloured undergarments which are visible
· Open toed shoes, sandals or thongs under Occupational Health & Safety regulations
· Excessive accessories, eg. Large jewellery
· Untidy, torn, unclean and/or immodest clothing
· Long sleeved garments worn under short sleeved shirts
A school bag should be a school backpack not a fashion handbag or shopping bag. An extra bag to bring sports clothing is permissible.
Under certain circumstances students may be excluded from educational activities particularly if a student's clothing compromises upon school community standards articulated in the school uniform requirements, and might be considered damaging to the image of the school in the larger community context.
Please ensure that your child wears full school uniform including black leather school shoes. Wearing less than this promotes the attitude "near enough is good enough". A better approach to life is "always give your best" – in appearance, attitude, behaviour and especially in learning.
If families find difficulty in providing a uniform please contact the Year Adviser or the Head Teacher of Welfare. All matters are dealt with confidentially.
Occupational Health & Safety
In practical lessons (Science, Technology, Visual Arts) it is required by the Department of Education that students wear and use correct Personal Protective Equipment. As such fully enclosed and secured black leather school shoes are a compulsory safety requirement.
