Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.

Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.

Special Religious Education (SRE) and Special Education in Ethics (SEE) at Glenmore Park High School

Glenmore Park High School provides Christian SRE taught by representatives of the Australian Christian Churches. The participating approved providers in the combined group arrangement are the Anglican Diocese of Sydney, Baptist Union of NSW, The Salvation Army, Christian Community Churches of Australia, Australian Christian Churches and Presbyterian Church of Australia (NSW).

Combined Christian SRE is the only SRE option currently available at Glenmore Park High School. If other SRE options become available, we will communicate new options via the school website.

Delivery of Combined Christian SRE

SRE at GPHS is taught in a seminar format once per term for 2 periods for Year 7 – 9 students only.

The SRE Curriculum used by the Australian Christian Churches is the CEP ThinkFaith curriculum. You can find out more about this curriculum at https://thinkfaith.com.au/files/About_Think_Faith.pdf

SEE

There are currently no providers for SEE at Glenmore Park High School. If SEE options become available, we will communicate new options to you via the school website.

Enrolment in and withdrawal from SRE

Any students enrolled at Glenmore Park High School are required to indicate their SRE preference during their online enrolment or complete the ‘Special Religious Education and Special Education in Ethics Participation Letter’ via manual enrolment.

You may access the letter through the link attached.

You may also email the school at any time if you wish to change your SRE / SEE preference.
