Principal’s update - Week 3, 14 May 2020

Principal's Update Thursday Week 3-

Firstly, we would like to thank our parents, carers and students for your support in the implementation of Phase 1 of the GPHS Return to School Plan. Implementation has progressed very smoothly and it has been lovely welcoming students back to school for their 1 day a week on site, as per the plan. Year 12 students are attending 2 to 3 days according to their subject requirements and to support them further through their Higher School Certificate year.

Congratulations must also go to our students, and their families for engaging so positively in the online learning process. It has certainly been a steep learning curve for all of us but I can report to you, on viewing our data that maps student engagement in this area, our students and families are to be congratulated for settling in so quickly to their learning at home. I have no doubts it has come with some challenges also, but please be assured we are here to support throughout. If further support is required, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Just a quick reminder- if students have borrowed laptops from the school they are required to bring them on the day they attend on site. As you would understand, providing the quantity of laptops required each day can be greatly assisted by students bringing these with them when they are on site. They will still be taking them home with them at the end of the school day.

We are very lucky that the School Canteen has been happy to open up this week and has been able to  provide students with a recess and lunch service. To assist them in their operations, it would be great if students can place lunch orders prior to 8:20am on the day. This will assist further in providing those students with a wider range of menu requests.

Next week, Week 4, will continue implementation the same as Week 3. The same attendance days will continue for each Year Group and the current timetable and procedures will continue with implementation in the same way.

Thank you for your support in assisting us to continue to implement Social Distancing and hygiene procedures in line with  Department of Education and Health requirements. This provides us the opportunity to implement procedures that support assisting in ensuring the wellbeing of students and staff.

I thank you for your support and will continue to keep you updated

Take care and stay safe
